I feel your pain. My "kid" is 16 and still eating this way. This, after sending him to a personal nutritionist to learn all the reasons why he needs to eat better. To no avail. I wish I could say what you should do. One insight on what NOT to do. Don't make eating a power struggle (you will lose). Other people worry about drugs and alcohol. I worry about expanding his horizons beyond fried mozzarella sticks, french fries, chicken tenders and pasta (plain, no sauce). Other parents have told me that they grow out of it, but sometimes not until college. I'm resigned to that fate. I guess if they are growing, you should not worry too much. My chief strategy: I don't buy junk food. Now, he is buying his own....I guess the whole job thing has backfired a bit.

Oatmeal isn't "nutritionless" it's a great thing for them to eat. But try quinoa - it's beige and really oool looking with the little spiral swirly things inside.

Also chummus - beige and loaded with protein, and chick peas as a snack - beige and yummy.

    Good luck!

    get them involved in growing/cooking/preparation.
    edamame for snacks
green beans sauteed with soy sauce.
Use toothpicks to make fruit, vegetables and bits of whatever you want them to try into cocktail party treats.
